The University of Venda (Univen) uses the NSC 7-Point Rating Scale. Your percentage for each subject is converted into a level (1-7), and these levels are added together.

Can I study at Univen with Maths Literacy?
Yes! You can apply for degrees in the School of Human & Social Sciences, Education, and Law.

However, the School of Agriculture, Environmental Sciences, and Health Sciences generally require Pure Mathematics.
Where is the University of Venda located?
Univen is located in Thohoyandou, in the Vhembe District of the Limpopo Province. It is a comprehensive rural-based university.
Can I apply using Grade 11 marks?
Yes. You apply using your **final Grade 11 results** to secure conditional admission. Your final acceptance is confirmed once your Grade 12 NSC results are released in January.
Do I need to write NBTs for Univen?
No. The University of Venda does not require the National Benchmark Test (NBT) for admission purposes. Your APS and subject marks are the primary criteria.
How do I apply for Univen residence?
You can apply for residence on the same online application portal where you apply for your degree. Due to high demand, residence is not guaranteed and is often based on academic merit and distance from home.
Does Univen offer Extended Degree Programmes?
Yes. Univen offers 4-year extended degree programmes (foundation phase) in the School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences for students with an APS slightly below the requirement (e.g., 22-24).
