Frequently Asked Questions

When do UL applications for 2027 close?
Health Sciences (MBChB, Pharmacy, etc.): 31 July 2026.
General Programmes (Humanities, Commerce): 30 September 2026.

Note: Space is limited at the Turfloop campus, so apply as early as April.
What is the UL application fee?
For South African applicants, the fee is typically R200. For international students, it is roughly R750. This fee is non-refundable and must be paid to process your application.
Do I need to write NBTs for UL?
Generally, No. The University of Limpopo does not use the National Benchmark Test (NBT) for admission. Admission is based on your NSC results (APS) and specific subject performance.
Does Life Orientation count at UL?
No. UL calculates your APS using your 6 best academic subjects. Life Orientation is excluded from the point calculation (0 points), though passing it is mandatory for your matric.
Does UL accept Maths Literacy?
Yes, but it is limited to the Faculty of Humanities (e.g., Social Work, BA, Education).

Science, Agriculture, and Management/Commerce degrees strictly require Pure Mathematics.
Where is the University of Limpopo located?
The main campus is the Turfloop Campus, located in Mankweng, approximately 30km east of Polokwane in the Limpopo Province.
Can I apply with Grade 11 results?
Yes. You use your final Grade 11 results to apply for conditional admission. Your final acceptance will depend on whether your Grade 12 (NSC) results meet the specific requirements.
What if my APS is slightly too low?
UL offers Extended Curriculum Programmes (ECP), particularly in the Faculty of Science and Agriculture. These allow students with slightly lower scores (e.g., 24-25) to complete a degree over 4 years instead of 3.
How do I apply for UL residence?
You apply for residence online at the same time as your academic application. Simply select the option for on-campus accommodation during the online process.
How do I check my UL application status?
You can check your status via the UL Self-Help Portal on their website using your ID number and student number (if assigned).

Just a Quick Note Before You Go

We built this tool to help you navigate the admissions maze, but it's important to remember that your future is more than just a number on a screen. Think of this result as your personal admission compass, a great starting point for your admission journey, but not the final finish line.

Universities are dynamic, and while we strive for 100% accuracy, their selection criteria often involves factors a calculator can't see, such as:

  • Portfolios, interviews, or NBT results
  • Specific subject minimums and combos
  • Language proficiency requirements
  • Space availability for your desired course

Our Advice: Use this score to narrow your search, then verify the latest facts directly with the university's prospectus.
