NMU Calculation Methods (2026/2027)

Nelson Mandela University (NMU) uses the Applicant Score (AS) system. Unlike other universities, NMU uses your raw percentages for your six best subjects to determine your score.

NMU Applicant Score (AS) Table

Your percentage is your point value.

NSC Percentage NMU AS Points Example
90% - 100% 90 - 100 95% = 95 Points
80% - 89% 80 - 89 82% = 82 Points
70% - 79% 70 - 79 75% = 75 Points
60% - 69% 60 - 69 60% = 60 Points
50% - 59% 50 - 59 55% = 55 Points
40% - 49% 40 - 49 40% = 40 Points
0% - 39% 0 - 39 Scores are added as earned
NMU Bonus Rule: Life Orientation is excluded from the primary calculation (Max 600). However, students from Quintile 1, 2, or 3 schools receive a +7 point bonus if they achieve 50% or higher in Life Orientation.

Just a Quick Note Before You Go

We built this tool to help you navigate the admissions maze, but it's important to remember that your future is more than just a number on a screen. Think of this result as your personal admission compass, a great starting point for your admission journey, but not the final finish line.

Universities are dynamic, and while we strive for 100% accuracy, their selection criteria often involves factors a calculator can't see, such as:

  • Portfolios, interviews, or NBT results
  • Specific subject minimums and combos
  • Language proficiency requirements
  • Space availability for your desired course

Our Advice: Use this score to narrow your search, then verify the latest facts directly with the university's prospectus.
