Faculty Requirements Breakdown
Faculty of Humanities
You will need a minimum APS of 22 for extended programmes and up to 25 for main Bachelor of Arts and Education degrees.
For the BEd in Senior Phase & FET Teaching (Mathematics, Science & Technology), you must achieve at least a Level 4 in Mathematics.
If you apply for the BA in Performing Arts, you will need to complete a compulsory audition.
Faculty of Management & Law
You will need an APS ranging from 22 for extended commerce degrees up to a highly competitive 30 for the Bachelor of Accountancy and Bachelor of Laws (LLB).
The Bachelor of Accountancy strictly requires Mathematics at Level 5.
General BCom degrees require you to have at least a Level 3 in Mathematics or a Level 4 or 5 in Mathematical Literacy, depending on the specific stream.
Faculty of Science & Agriculture
Your APS Score must be between 22 (for extended programmes) and 26 (for mainstream Bachelor of Science degrees).
Main BSc degrees (Physical, Mineral, Life, and Computer Sciences) require Mathematics at Level 5 and Physical Sciences at Level 5.
The Bachelor of Agricultural Management accepts Mathematical Literacy at Level 5 or Mathematics at Level 3.
Faculty of Health Sciences
You will need an APS between 25 and 27 for this high-demand faculty.
Medicine (MBChB), Pharmacy, and Optometry require Mathematics, Physical Sciences, and Life Sciences all at a minimum of Level 5.
The Bachelor of Nursing requires at least a Level 4 in Mathematics or Level 5 in Mathematical Literacy, along with a Level 4 in Life Sciences.

When calculating your APS Score for the University of Limpopo, do not include Life Orientation—it is explicitly excluded from the calculation. Additionally, keep in mind that simply meeting the minimum APS for degrees in Education, Psychology, Social Work, and Medicine does not guarantee your 2027 Admission; you will also need to pass specific faculty selection tests to secure your spot.
