NSFAS 2027 Required Documents
Gather these files before starting your application . Submitting the wrong documents is the #1 reason for funding delays.
Valid South African ID
A clear scan of your Smart ID (both sides) or Green ID book. You must be a South African citizen or permanent resident. Affidavits are not accepted.
NSFAS Consent Form 2027
Mandatory for All Applicants
This form gives NSFAS permission to check your household income with SARS. Failure to submit this results in a rejected application.
NSFAS Declaration Form
Data Accuracy Verification
This document is used to attest to the accuracy and completeness of all information provided in your 2027 application. Note: Unmarried independent learners who are economically self-sufficient are exempt from this requirement.
Download FormHousehold Proof of Income
Latest payslips or IRP5 for all earning members in the home. If unemployed, you must still declare this so NSFAS can verify it with SASSA or UIF.
Disability Annexure A
Special Case Requirement
Required to qualify for the higher R600,000 threshold and specialized assistive devices. Must be signed by a medical professional.

Special Case Requirement
This form is required for applicants who are orphans or have been legally declared a "vulnerable child" by a social worker or a court of law. It serves as a substitute for parent/guardian income proof when no such relationship exists.
Legal Guardianship Proof
If you live with a guardian who is not your biological parent, you must provide a court order or a legitimate will.
